The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources annually provides grants to assist local organizations and local units of government in protecting or improving rivers and natural river ecosystems.
There are two categories in the grant program, planning and management.
- $10,000 max per grant
- 75% state share max
- Some eligible activities include (in priority order): 1) river organization development, 2) information and education, 3) assessments of water quality, fish, and aquatic life, and 4) nonpoint source evaluations.

- 75% State Share max
- Some eligible activities include (in priority order): 1) purchase of land or easements, 2) development of local ordinances, and 3) restoration of in-stream or shoreland habitat.

The deadline to apply is May 1, 2010.

River Links: Interlibrary Loan Resources for Building Successful Conservation Organizations This project makes resources available to assist river and watershed organizations around the state with their organizational development and conservation work. These materials include books, toolkits, and videos that are available through your local public library and through Wisconsin's Water Library.
The TRIB River Alliance has a new e-newsletter for local river advocates! The TRIB provides information about funding opportunities, trainings, events, and other topics related to helping river organization operate sustainably.
